Ex-Virginia school administrator gets 5 years for fraud
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) – A Richmond lady has been sentenced to greater than 5 years in jail for steering a yearslong scheme to defraud state and federal officers of at the least $230,000 in scholar monetary assist funds.
Courtroom paperwork confirmed that Kiesha Pope was the director of monetary assist at J. Sargeant Reynolds Group Faculty beginning in 2006.
U.S. Lawyer Jessica Aber says that Pope was concerned in a scheme to defraud the U.S. Division of Schooling, the Commonwealth of Virginia and the school of academic funds.
Information shops report that Pope pleaded responsible to wire fraud. Aber says Pope developed or elevated monetary assist eligibility for people, typically family, who weren’t eligible. She spent the cash on private bills, together with a trip.
