Dave Campbell’s Texas Football unveiled its first high school football rankings of the 2023 regular season this week, with several local teams receiving recognition. Unsurprisingly, Houston-area powerhouse North Shore led the way as the No. 2 team in Class 6A, the highest classification in the state. The Mustangs cruised to a 38-17 win over then-No. 12 The Woodlands in last week’s season opener, with the Highlanders falling to No. 23 as a result of the loss. Reigning state champion Duncanville topped the rankings.

Katy (No. 5), Spring Westfield (No. 6) and Humble Atascocita (No. 10) also cracked the top 10 in Class 6A, with several other local teams making the top 25. Dave Campbell’s Texas Football only ranks the top 10 teams in the remaining University Interscholastic League (UIL) classifications, as well as the top five private schools in the state. Fort Bend Marshall (Class 5A, Division II) and St. Thomas (private) each came in at No. 3 in their respective rankings.

Next week’s Class 6A top 10 could see a significant shake-up, as Katy and Atascocita are set to square off Friday in one of the most-anticipated non-district matchups in the state this season. Below is the full list of Houston-area team’s to crack this week’s Texas high school football rankings.
