AUSTIN, Texas (KWTX) – Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is suing five Texas cities, claiming they have adopted non-prosecution policies that violate state laws about marijuana possession and distribution.

The five cities included in the lawsuit are Austin, San Marcos, Killeen, Elgin and Denton.

The lawsuit claims that the cities have adopted policies that tell police not to enforce Texas drug laws in regard to possession and distribution of marijuana.

“I will not stand idly by as cities run by pro-crime extremists deliberately violate Texas law and promote the use of illicit drugs that harm our communities,” said Paxton.
