Mother settles lawsuit over Texas arrest captured on video
FORT WORTH, Texas — A Texas metropolis has settled a federal civil rights lawsuit filed by a Black mom after she and her daughter had been wrestled to the bottom and arrested by a white police officer following a dispute with a neighbor.
Jacqueline Craig and considered one of her daughters had been wrestled to the bottom and had a stun gun pointed at them by Fort Price officer William Martin in December 2016. One other of Craig’s daughters, who filmed the incident on her cellphone, was additionally arrested.

Town agreed to settle the lawsuit for $150,000, the Fort Price Star-Telegram reported Friday. The settlement is pending Metropolis Council approval.

Mayor Professional Tem Gyna Bivens instructed the newspaper she was glad the lawsuit was settled.
“This put a giant weight on her. It put a giant weight on town, and I hope the settlement is sufficient for everybody to really feel refreshed and able to transfer ahead,” Bivens stated.
