SURPRISE, Ariz. – Corey Seager said the quiet part out loud Monday: Of course, the Texas Rangers were motivated last fall by a snarky post-Division Clinching toast made by Houston’s Alex Bregman.
It led to Seager having the ultimate mic drop moment at the Rangers World Series victory parade, when he parodied Bregman’s “I guess we’ll never know” toast with his own version. Seager took the stage briefly and twisted Bregman’s speech.
“A lot of people were wondering what it would be like if the Texas Rangers didn’t win the World Series,” he said at the time. “I guess we’ll never know.”
Then he sheepishly handed the mic off and shrugged his shoulders as he walked off the stage.

“It’s something that motivated us,” Seager said Monday. “We used it and it was great for us. You know, it brought us more together at a time that we were trying to regroup. So it was a good thing for us. … Also, it was a good thing to say to be able to get off stage quickly.”
Seager also punctuated everything by underscoring that, no, he is not entering a trash talk stage of his career.
