Coleman scores 23, leads Texas A&M over SMU 83-64

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) — Henry Coleman III scored 12 of his 23 factors within the second half when Texas A&M pulled away to beat SMU 83-64 on Wednesday night time in a uncommon assembly between former Southwest Convention rivals.

Wade Taylor IV added 13 factors and a career-high 9 assists, and Julius Marble had 10 factors for the Aggies (5-2), who received their third straight sport.

Zhuric Phelps scored 23 factors with 5 3-pointers for the Mustangs (3-4). Samuell Williamson and Stefan Todorovic added 10 factors every.

A 3-point play by Williamson obtained the Mustangs inside 5 within the second half earlier than a 15-2 run by the Aggies. Manny Obaseki and Coleman had 4 factors apiece within the run and Taylor capped it with a 3-pointer to guide 67-49 with 8:50 remaining. The lead grew to as many as 24.

The Aggies, after capturing simply 33% within the first half, hit 50% within the second. They scored 24 factors off 19 SMU turnovers, together with 11 steals.

Texas A&M led 45-36 at halftime regardless of 17 factors from Phelps. The Aggies constructed a 12-point lead with three minutes remaining within the half after a 16-5 run led by seven factors from Coleman.

This was simply the fourth assembly between the previous Southwest Convention rivals because the league disbanded in 1996. The groups have been assembly since 1918 with SMU main the sequence 91-88.
