KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – After splitting their matchups last week with a home loss to South Carolina and an emphatic 103-92 win over Kentucky on the road, Tennessee slipped one spot from No. 5 to No. 6 in the latest AP Top 25 Men’s Basketball poll.

It’s the 8th consecutive week Tennessee has been in the top 10.

Five teams from the SEC found themselves in the top 25. Auburn, South Carolina, Alabama, and Kentucky join the Vols in the poll.

After falling to a then-unranked South Carolina squad, the Gamecocks entered the poll for the first time since 2017 following their win over Tennessee and a road win at Georgia. Four of the five teams Tennessee has fallen to now own a spot in the top 25. Mississippi State is the lone unranked loss for the Vols.

UCONN maintained its top spot in the poll.

The Vols will face unranked LSU and Texas A&M this week.

On the women’s side, despite holding sole possession of second place in the SEC with a 7-2 conference record, the Tennessee Lady Vols did not receive a vote in the AP Top 25 women’s poll.

South Carolina was unanimously voted No. 1, and LSU was the only other SEC team in the top 25.

The Lady Vols travel to Alabama on Thursday before returning home on Monday to face Arkansas.
