KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Just two days after wrapping up spring practice, Tennessee is losing linebacker Elijah Herring to the transfer portal.

Herring led the Volunteers in tackles a season ago with 80. The Newnan, Georgia native also tallied four tackles for loss, and half a sack last year.

Following a season-ending injury to Keenan Pili, Herring started in 11 games at linebacker for Tennessee.

With Herring’s intentions to enter the portal, Tennessee’s top six tacklers from last season will not be with the team next year.
