Gov. Bill Lee announced a major step forward for Nashville’s transportation with the approval of The Boring Company’s lease and permit for the Music City Loop.

The Music City Loop will connect downtown Nashville to Nashville International Airport in just 8 minutes using underground tunnels. The tunnel will also make stops on lower Broadway and West End.

This project is entirely privately funded, meaning no cost to taxpayers.

“Tennessee continues to lead the nation in finding innovative solutions to accommodate growth…” Gov. Lee says.

Construction will begin immediately, with the first segment expected to be operational by the end of the year. The project is set to ease traffic congestion and extend the lifespan of Tennessee’s roads.
