Tennessee baseball will face Evansville in the Knoxville Super Regional.

The No. 1 overall seed Vols (53-11) will host the Purple Aces (38-24) starting either Friday or Saturday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. Games times and TV schedule have yet to be announced.

Evansville advanced to the super regional as the No. 4 seed out of the Greenville Regional by beating No. 16 national seed East Carolina 6-5 on Monday. It is the ninth No. 4 seed to advance to a super regional.

How Tennessee baseball reached the super regional

The Vols cruised through the Knoxville Regional in three games by outscoring opponents 33-12. They hit 12 homers, including five in the regional-clinching 12-3 win against Southern Miss on Sunday. UT beat Northern Kentucky 9-3 in its opener before beating Indiana 12-3 on Saturday.

Tennessee won the SEC Tournament after winning a share of the SEC regular-season title.

How Evansville reached the super regional

Evansville won the Greenville Regional as the No. 4 seed, dropping No. 1 seed East Carolina in the first game 4-1. The Purples Aces won 17-11 against VCU then lost the first game of the regional final against ECU 19-6.

They bounced back to win the final Monday with a late three-run homer from Mark Shallenberger.

Evansville reached the NCAA Tournament by winning the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.

The Purple Aces are led on the pitching side by freshman Kenton Deverman, who allowed one run on three hits in eight innings in the regional opener against ECU.

Outfielder Kip Fougerousse tied the Evansville program record for homers with his 21st Monday. He hit 20, while batting .350 with 64 RBIs before Monday. Shallenberger hit .388 with 16 homers and 60 RBIs entering Monday.
