President Biden increases federal cost-share to assist in Helene recovery efforts in Tennessee
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – President Joe Biden has increased the federal cost-share for Tennessee, according to Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator Deanne Criswell.
The federal cost-share has been increased from 75% to 100% and to supplement recovery efforts in areas in Tennessee affected by Hurricane Helene in September.
Criswell said the approved increase is for debris removal and emergency protective measures, which includes direct federal assistance for a period of 120 days. The time period is of the state’s choosing within the first 180 days of the incident.
“The major disaster declaration made federal funding available for emergency protective measures, other needs assistance and direct federal assistance for total eligible costs,” said Criswell.
