NFL Preseason Week 1 Game Recap: Chicago Bears 23, Tennessee Titans 17 | NFL News, Rankings and Statistics | PFF
Justin Fields had an easy day at the office, completing all three of his passes and watching D.J. Moore and Khalil Herbert take two of them to the house. Meanwhile, the Titans’ QB2 battle seemingly remains tight after Malik Willis and Will Levis were neither excellent nor poor. In the end, Chicago claimed a 23-17 win in the preseason Week 1 contest.
Offensive spotlight: Roschon Johnson handled 12 carries en route to 44 rushing yards. The Bears rookie earned an 80.0-plus rushing grade on PFF’s first review of the film thanks to three forced missed tackles and 47 yards after contact — three more yards than his final game total.
Defensive spotlight: A hefty workload for Bears second-round rookie cornerback Tyrique Stevenson yielded mixed results. The Miami (FL) product played 31 coverage snaps and gave up six catches on eight targets, albeit for only 50 yards. He had good coverage on a dropped interception of Will Levis.
Rookie spotlight: Titans second-round rookie quarterback Will Levis, in a battle with Malik Willis for the QB2 job, overcame an early turnover-worthy play — a dropped interception — to record two big-time throws and a 70.0-plus passing grade, pending review. However, he held onto the ball too long on occasion and was sacked four times.
Offensive line spotlight: Both the Titans and Bears featured their first-round tackles with the starters. Peter Skoronski logged 12 snaps and allowed no pressure on five pass-blocking reps. Darnell Wright matched that by staying clean on his three pass-blocking reps — two of which were quick throws — but was downgraded on two of his four run-blocking snaps, pending review.
