Woman dies after horrific alligator attack in South Carolina
It seems that alligator attacks in South Carolina, United States are becoming more common than usual with another woman becoming a fatal victim.
Eleven months ago, an 88-year-old woman was devoured by this reptile after falling into a pond in the garden of a nursing home, and now another woman has died after another terrible attack while walking her dog.
The events occurred at a golf course on Hilton Head Island, where the woman was taking a leisurely stroll with her pet when she was suddenly surprised by an alligator.
After the attack, rescue agents found the victim unconscious on the edge of the lagoon and, although they tried to revive her, the mission was not possible after the animal returned to finish its work.
Second deadly alligator attack in Beaufort County
“Rescue efforts were made and an alligator appeared and was guarding the woman, interrupting emergency efforts,” reads the statement from authorities, who after displacing the dangerous reptile, were able to recover the body.
The scene was bloody and the body was found lifeless on the edge of the typical artificial lagoons of these sports fields.
With this one, there are now two fatal alligator attacks in less than a year in Beaufort County, as it seems that this animal is reproducing extremely fast in this territory.
There are an estimated five million American alligators in the wild in 10 states in the southeastern part of the country; however, the data reflect that wild assaults are not as frequent.
In Florida there have been six incidents since 1948, a figure that shows that bites from these animals are not at all common, although it appears that this past year the statistics have increased drastically.
