Will LSU WR Aaron Anderson play vs. South Carolina? Here’s the latest on his status.
Garrett Nussmeier’s struggling LSU offense is expected to face South Carolina on Saturday without one of its top weapons.
ESPN reported on Friday that Aaron Anderson, the Tigers’ leading receiver, is considered doubtful to play, though he was still listed as questionable on the availability report that LSU released Friday evening. Coach Brian Kelly has said that redshirt junior who exited LSU’s Sept. 27 loss to Ole Miss with an elbow strain is also battling toe and knee injuries.
On Thursday, Kelly said Anderson was “day-to-day.”
“He’s steadily gotten better each week,” Kelly said. “Today, he was (running) 19.5 miles per hour, so he’s above 85%, which will put him into some practice, so we’ll go again tomorrow.”
LSU also ruled left guard Paul Mubenga (ankle) out of the game against the Gamecocks on its latest availability report. Right tackle Weston Davis (concussion), running back Caden Durham (ankle) and defensive tackle Ahmad Breaux were not listed, which means they will each be available to play.
Anderson is an Algiers native who once starred at Edna Karr. This season, he’s caught 23 passes for 305 yards. He was also the Tigers’ leading receiver in 2024, when he tallied 61 receptions, 884 yards and five touchdowns in a breakout year.
LSU’s matchup with South Carolina will kick off at 6:45 p.m. Saturday on the SEC Network.
