What College GameDay had to say about South Carolina-Vanderbilt
Every Saturday, College GameDay breaks down the top matchups across the country. As usual, this Saturday, Kirk Herbstreit, Pat McAfee, Desmond Howard, Nick Saban, Rece Davis, and Lee Corso made up the College GameDay team. The crew is in Baton Rouge, Louisiana ahead of the the annual rivalry between Alabama and LSU. However, there also was some South Carolina-Vanderbilt talk mixed in during the show.
Once again, Pat McAfee’s scholarship and charity field goal challenge attempt was much better than the hilariously horrendous effort put forth by a University of South Carolina student back in week 3. This week, an LSU student missed badly, but even “bad” was much better than the previous Gamecock effort.

At an earlier point in the show, GameDay did a segment on the College Football Playoff. While the Gamecock didn’t feature in the segment, Texas A&M did, and therefore, the Gamecocks’ beatdown of the Aggies was part of the story.
When the panel picked their “Superdogs,” both Nick Saban and Kirk Herbstreit picked Vanderbilt to cover the spread.
When it came time for picks, College GameDay featured the matchup between the Gamecocks and Commodores. The majority of the panel picked South Carolina.
Desmond Howard made an emphatic pick for the Gamecocks. With a couple fewer “Cock” jokes than usual, Pat McAfee also picked Shane Beamer’s squad. Coach Nick Saban went with the Commodores to win, outright. Kirk Herbstreit, despite picking Vanderbilt as his superdog pick, picked South Carolina to win. Celebrity guest pickers Paul Skenes and Livvy Dunne won over the LSU crowd by picking Vandy. Coach Lee Corso also picked USC, saying he likes Shane Beamer a lot.
Last week, only celebrity picker Keegan-Michael Key picked the South Carolina Gamecocks to beat the Texas A&M Aggies. USC fans hope that the GameDay crew’s majority pick actually is right this week.
Kickoff is approaching as South Carolina and Vanderbilt will take the field at 4:15. Fans can tune in to the game on SEC Network or stream the contest on the ESPN app.
