Umbrella swept by wind kills woman at South Carolina beach
GARDEN CITY, S.C. — A beachgoer was killed Wednesday after a free seashore umbrella impaled her within the chest, authorities mentioned.
The umbrella was blown from from its anchoring by the wind round 12:40 p.m. and hit Tammy Perreault whereas she was at a Backyard Metropolis seashore, Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard informed information shops.
Perreault, 63, died about an hour later on the hospital from chest trauma, Willard mentioned.
Seaside umbrellas have a spiked finish to assist push them into the sand and their vast cover permits them to get caught up in a robust wind if they aren’t anchored correctly, the U.S. Shopper Product Security Fee mentioned.
