South Carolina man steals cremated remains of ex’s mom to sell for heroin

A South Carolina man stole the cremated stays of his ex-girlfriend’s mom to promote so he might purchase heroin, cops mentioned.

Jackson Rutland, 19, texted his ex round 5:40 a.m. on Wednesday morning, and informed her he had taken her mom’s ashes from her residence in Warrensville whereas she was visiting a pal, in keeping with an arrest warrant obtained by WRDW.

When the lady returned residence, she discovered the rear door busted in and the house ransacked. She informed police her mom’s ashes had been tampered with and a few have been unfold on the ground, in keeping with the arrest document.

Rutland had allegedly swiped the stays to promote to purchase heroin, the warrant says, though it’s not clear how or why he thought he might promote the ashes for money.

“I’ve by no means heard of something like that,” Aiken County Sheriff’s Capt. Eric Abdullah informed WRDW.

He was arrested Thursday evening and charged with destruction, desecration or elimination of human stays in addition to housebreaking, in keeping with jail data.
