South Carolina man arrested, faces multiple charges after racist tirade goes viral

SULLIVAN’S ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) — The Sullivan’s Island Police Department in South Carolina has levied charges against a man after he was captured on video harassing Hispanic men in a racist tirade.

Sean Michael-Emmrich Johnson, 34, from Huger, South Carolina is facing charges of felony kidnapping, impersonating a law enforcement officer, larceny and fraudulent removal or secreting personal property and third-degree assault and battery.

The charges stem from a video posted on social media, where Johnson is seen removing the keys from the vehicle of Hispanic men, accusing them of not having a license, mocking them with curse words, and saying, “You’re going back to Mexico.”

Johnson was arrested at approximately 10:57 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, after turning himself into the Sullivan’s Island Police Department.

He was subsequently transported to the Al Cannon Detention Center where he is currently detained on the above-listed charges.

After a bond hearing he was given a $20 thousand bond for kidnapping, $10 thousand for impersonating an officer, $500 for larceny and $1,087 for assault and battery in the third degree.
