Clemson Tigers News: South Carolina judge rules in Clemson’s favor
Clemson was back in court on Friday, this time in Pickens County for the school’s case against the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Much of the question regarding jurisdiction in this case has been whether the ACC does business in South Carolina or not.
The judge issued a ruling yesterday that Clemson had demonstrated that the ACC does business in South Carolina and that it is a proper place for the case to be heard.
This means both cases (South Carolina and North Carolina) will move forward. The ACC lawsuit in North Carolina will pause briefly as Clemson appeals the most recent decision by the judge to the state Supreme Court.
Judge Gravely, back from break: “I do believe Clemson has established a case for specific jurisdiction … I feel like the crux of this case is the grant of rights.” He thinks the standard of ACC making at least “minimal contacts” in SC has been met

Some of the redacted parts of the ACC’s Grant of Rights have been revealed too and it appears that Clemson’s argument centers on the differences in the document between current membership and former membership.
This is an overarching theme in Clemson’s argument: The ACC doesn’t hold the rights to Clemson games if Clemson isn’t a member of the ACC.
Not sure if that’s a winning argument, but it’s certainly an argument. A potential loophole.

If this strategy is successful, it minimizes the impact of the length of the GOR contract, which extends through 2036.
Clemson Women’s Basketball has added another transfer player to the roster. Kinsley Barrington is a 6’-0” forward from Vineyard, Utah. She played two seasons each for Southern Utah and Cal Baptist. She has one season of eligibility remaining.
