CLAREMORE, Okla. (AP) – The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is attempting to find out if a person who seemed to be threatening officers with a gun was really armed after they fatally shot him this week.

A spokesperson for OSBI says three officers shot 40-year-old Bobby Joe Johnston on Wednesday as he ran towards them “in a threatening method” in Claremore, about 25 miles northeast of Tulsa.

TV video exhibits Johnston working at armed officers, holding his arms in entrance of him as if pointing a handgun.

The OSBI will submit a report back to the prosecuting legal professional, who will determine whether or not the taking pictures was justified
