The SEC will go through exciting changes in July 2024, as Oklahoma and Texas will enter the conference.

As each team prepares to join the conference, here is a look back at how well Auburn has performed historically against each newcomer. First, we will start with the Oklahoma Sooners.

Surprisingly enough, Auburn has played several games with the Sooners in recent memory as men’s basketball, baseball, and softball have all played at least one game against Oklahoma this decade, with football and women’s basketball playing against the Sooners once since 2017.

When thinking of Oklahoma, the minds of Auburn fans usually turn toward softball. The Tigers and Sooners have played eight times since 2016, with most of those games coming in the postseason. Auburn dropped the 2016 Women’s College World Series final to Oklahoma in three of the most exciting games in Auburn softball history.

Auburn men’s basketball’s history with Oklahoma contains a rarity… a game that was played on a home campus. The two previous matchups between Auburn and Oklahoma were played on neutral sites, with one game taking place in the NCAA Tournament. However, the most recent meeting ended with Auburn earning a valuable win over the Sooners in the 2022 SEC-Big 12 Challenge. Future NBA first rounders Jabari Smith and Walker Kessler each dropped 20 points in the win.

Five players reached double-figures in the game, including Robyn Benton who scored 14 points off the bench.

Auburn’s lone win over Oklahoma came in the 1998 Tallahassee Regional when the Tigers defeated the Sooners, 9-8. The most recent program to face Oklahoma is softball, who faced the Sooners in March at Omni Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City. Auburn played two games against the Sooners during the weekend of March 19, falling in both games by a combined score of 21-1. The most memorable game in the series came during the 2016 Women’s College World Series. In game two of the championship series, Auburn’s Emily Carosone hit a grand slam in the bottom of the 7th inning to lift the Tigers to an 11-7 win.
