Redshirt freshman Aniya Madkin put down a match-high 25 kills to lead the Arkansas volleyball team to a 28-26, 17-25, 25-21, 25-21 victory over Oklahoma in SEC action on Sunday afternoon at McCasland Field House in Norman, Okla.
The Razorbacks (13-2, 3-0 SEC) trailed 24-22 in the opening set, but a kill by Romani Thurman and a service ace by Courtney Jackson allowed Arkansas to tie it 24-24. Oklahoma (7-5, 1-3) claimed the second set, but Arkansas took advantage of 11 combined errors by the home team and hit better than .250 over the final two sets to pull out the victory.
The Sooners finished with a 68-54 advantage in kills, but they piled up 25 errors to the Razorbacks’ 16.
Thurman chipped in 12 kills and Jackson finished with a team-high 19 digs. Arkansas setter Hannah Hogue dished out 42 assists. Payton Chamberlain finished with a match-high 52 assists for the Sooners and Kamille Gibson led them with 22 kills.
The Razorbacks return home to host the Alabama Crimson Tide at 3 p.m. next Sunday at Barnhill Arena in Fayetteville.
