Oklahoma City Police are investigating a homicide following a motel shooting near the Interstate 35 Service Road near southeast Grand Boulevard.

Police responded to the Executive Inn Wednesday evening.

“Officers received a call that there was gunfire in the area, the victim was found on scene,” said Oklahoma City Police Sgt. Dillon Quirk.

The victim was found inside a motel room and was rushed to the hospital. Despite lifesaving efforts police said the victim did not survive.

“Sadly, we’ve learned a short time ago the victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital,” said Quirk.

Police said the suspect or suspects fled the scene in a vehicle.

“Right now we don’t have anyone detained, no one arrested at this point,” said Quirk.

Police have not determined a motive.

“It’s still too early to determine what led up to the shooting,” said Quirk.

Police officers and crime tape secured a second-floor motel room. Police said despite several rooms being occupied, and the motel’s proximity to a busy interstate no one else was hurt.

“One victim was struck by gunfire,” said Quirk.

Police said talking to potential witnesses and gathering evidence was expected to take several hours.

“We are going to be out here sometime, processing the scene trying to figure out what happened. What led to up to the shooting, what led to the victim being shot,” said Quirk.

Police said they were working to  determine a description of the vehicle involved.
