ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — A portion of the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina is closed due to a wildfire within the Pisgah Nationwide Forest, officers stated on Thursday.

The U.S. Forest Service stated firefighters are working to include the Barnett Department Hearth within the Pisgah Ranger District. The hearth is roughly 172 acres burning in tough terrain, the forest service stated.

The Blue Ridge Parkway is closed from U.S. Freeway 276 to The Pisgah Inn and might be reopened as quickly as potential, officers stated. Yellow Hole Street is closed and anticipated to stay closed by the weekend pending fireplace situations, the service stated.

The Pisgah Inn, positioned at milepost 408, remains to be accessible from Asheville through U.S. 276. It is not in any imminent hazard and officers stated no evacuations have been ordered.
