Monday’s showdown between North Carolina and Wake Forest touts three of the premier guards in the ACC, with RJ Davis squaring off against Hunter Sallis and Kevin Miller.

Davis is flourishing in his senior season for the Tar Heels, averaging a team-best 20.2 points per game and shooting a career-high 41% from beyond the arc. He has scored at least 20 points in five games against ranked opponents, too, while leading North Carolina in scoring in each of the last four games.

Sallis and Miller, a pair of transfers, spur the Demon Deacons. After two years as a role player for Gonzaga, Sallis has stepped into the limelight at Wake Forest, averaging a team-high 17.7 points per game while shooting 40% from beyond the arc. He has scored in double figures in every game this season, including a 19-point performance in Saturday’s 90-65 win over Louisville.

Miller missed 27 games last season with Central Michigan due to a foot injury, but has quickly returned to form with his new squad, averaging 17.4 points and a team-high 4.2 assists per game.

The Tar Heels (15-3) enter Monday on an eight-game winning streak, punctuated by a 6-0 start to ACC play. On Saturday, they eked past Boston College, 76-66.

Wake Forest (13-5) looks up to North Carolina in the ACC standings, tied for second place with NC State and Florida State, thanks to a 5-2 mark in conference play. The Demon Deacons have gone 2-2 in their last four games after a nine-game winning streak.

This is the only regular-season matchup between the two teams this year.
