Water main breaks in Pittsboro neighborhood, one of many in NC during cold stretch

Repair crews on Friday went to a Chatham County neighborhood to fix a water main break, one of many that have hit central North Carolina this week amid a cold snap.

The water main break happened within the Chapel Ridge neighborhood in Pittsboro. A resident reached out to WRAL News after seeing the water pooling at the neighborhood’s clubhouse.

The water main break was one of many in North Carolina this week, including several in the last 24 hours from Raleigh to Chapel Hill and in between.

In Cary, a pipe ruptured in two different places on Northwest Cary Parkway. though leaders in Cary say it is a combination of the cold weather and aging systems.

It is unclear how long repairs will take in Pittsboro. WRAL News reached out to the Town of Pittsboro and Aqua NC, the company who provides water for the neighborhood, for more information.
