Opening night of the North Carolina State Fair draws huge crowds
Tens of thousands of people went to the North Carolina State Fair’s opening night on Thursday.
The fair runs through Oct. 27.
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill student Mia Dean explained why she visited the fair.
“The food, the rides, the vibes,” Dean said. “All of it. I love it.”
The unique food selections is what brought North Carolina State University student Joshua Aycock.
“I always like going to the agricultural places to be honest,” Aycock said.
Aycock came as a “Pack” for Wolfpack Day, which allowed students attending NC State to attend for an $8 admission fee.
This year’s theme of the fair is Homegrown Happiness.
On Thursday, Durham resident Breanna Powell tried brisket and mac and cheese together.
“It’s perfect,” she said.
Powell said she plans to attend the fair again next week.
Since 1997, Nick Tabron has drawn caricatures of people attending the fair.
“Our goal is to capture that unique difference in every person and have fun with it,” Tabron said.
