North Carolina trooper involved in deadly shooting during Stanly County crash investigation
ALBEMARLE, N.C. — A North Carolina State Freeway Patrol trooper is on administrative obligation after legislation enforcement officers shot and killed a 22-year-old man early Thursday morning whereas responding to a crash early Thursday morning.
Authorities have recognized Ghassan Radwan Baba, 22, of Albemarle, as the person who died within the capturing.
Trooper Micheal McCormick, a four-year veteran stationed in Stanly County, is on administrative obligation pending an inner investigation.
At about 1:47 a.m. Thursday, the State Freeway Patrol responded to a site visitors crash involving a automobile in a ditch on North Carolina Freeway 73 close to Lowell Street in Albemarle. Upon arriving on the scene, the State Freeway Patrol mentioned the responding trooper noticed the suspected driver concerned within the collision to have a gun in his waistband.
The trooper known as for help and a deputy with the Stanley County Sheriff’s Workplace arrived, the State Freeway Patrol mentioned.
