North Carolina Tar Heels Legends pay tribute to Bob Knight

North Carolina Tar Heels legends released statements following the announcement of the passing of legendary head coach Bob Knight.

Sad news struck the college basketball world on Wednesday night, as one of the best coaches to ever do it, Bob Knight, has passed away at the age of 83.

Knight is remembered for leading the Indiana Hoosiers from 1971-2000, as his 902 career victories at the time of his retirement was a new NCAA record. Although it has been surpassed since, it doesn’t take away from what Knight was able to do on the sidelines, as his impact is one that will carry on for a very long time.

After the announcement of his passing was made, some North Carolina Tar Heel legends released statements regarding the news. Here’s what former UNC basketball coach Roy Williams had to say:

Current UNC football coach Mack Brown also took to X on Thursday morning to remember someone whom he calls a dear friend of his:

George Karl, another coaching legend, also made a statement, as his post on X included a legendary photo of Knight with Dean Smith.
