North Carolina man going to prison for Yonkers home invasion – Mid Hudson News

WHITE PLAINS – After a three-week jury trial in Westchester County Court docket, a 50-year-old North Carolina man was discovered responsible on Tuesday of a number of felony fees stemming from a 2018 house invasion in Yonkers.

Confessor Soto of Fayetville, NC was convicted of assault, two counts of housebreaking, tried theft, and felony possession of a weapon.  All the fees are thought of violent felonies beneath state regulation. 

The defendant was acquitted of tried homicide and tried Assault within the First Diploma. The defendant, in response to Westchester County DA Miriam Rocah, faces a sentence starting from a minimal of 5 years in state jail to a most of 25 years in jail when he’s sentenced on December 2, 2022.  

On April 23, 2018, at roughly 7:30 a.m., Soto entered the backdoor of a  residence on Leighton Avenue in Yonkers armed with a semi-automatic handgun and zip ties and restrained the 82-year-old house owner.

Disguising his face with sun shades and a  bandana, Soto compelled the house owner into the bed room of the house owner’s 54- year-old daughter, who then woke to the defendant demanding cash at gunpoint.

When the daughter said she had no cash, the defendant fired his gun at her, grazing the highest of her head. The daughter escaped the house screaming for assist and a very good Samaritan known as the police. Mr. Soto fled to the Bronx, the place he left his garments and gun within the vestibule of an condominium constructing on South Broadway.  

Soto was apprehended in Fayetteville, North Carolina on April 30, 2019, by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, following a joint investigation between the Yonkers Police Division, the District Legal professional’s Workplace, the Westchester County Division of Public  Security, and FBI’s Westchester Secure Streets Job Power. The Westchester County Division of Public Security assisted Yonkers Police Division with the arrest.
