North Carolina man arrested in possible kidnapping after Rankin Co. chase
BRANDON, Miss. (WLBT) – Mississippi officers arrested a North Carolina man after a brief chase on Monday.
A press release says the Brandon Police Department received a call for assistance from the Wake County Sheriff’s Department in North Carolina regarding a suspect vehicle involved in a possible kidnapping of a juvenile from their jurisdiction.
According to the release, Brandon officers located the suspect’s vehicle at a local business.
Brandon officers, working in conjunction with officers from the Pearl Police Department, attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle.
However, the suspect, 18-year-old Jerry Carredondo-Rocha, fled from officers on I-20.
After a brief pursuit, the vehicle was stopped, and Carredondo-Rocha was taken to the Rankin County Jail.
The juvenile was recovered safely inside the vehicle.
Carredondo-Rocha is charged with one count of felony evasion. Additional charges from Wake County, N.C. authorities are pending.
