A strong frontal system will impact eastern NC Thursday and bring the potential for scattered strong to severe thunderstorms, gusty winds and coastal impacts.

The National Weather Service says scattered thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts and a brief tornado will be possible. The area of greatest concern may shift as we get closer to the event.

Minor to locally moderate inundation (1- 3 ft AGL) is also possible Thursday into early Friday. The greatest oceanside threats include Oregon Inlet to North Topsail Beach. Including Ocracoke Island (which could impact travel on NC-12 and ferry services).

Soundside threats include areas adjacent to the northern Pamlico Sound, as well as the Outer Banks from South Nags Head, Roanoke Island down to Avon.
