NCDOT partners with contractor to speed up Helene repairs in Pigeon River Gorge

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) and a contractor have teamed up to try to get repairs completed faster in the Pigeon River Gorge after Helene.

NCDOT and the contractor have built a temporary concrete plant and brought in a rock crusher to have the materials they need close at hand.

It also reduces the amount of materials they have to truck in on the interstate.

As previously reported, the Pigeon River washed away a big chunk of the highway’s eastbound side during the storm.
