GRANITE FALLS, N.C. (WBTV) – A planned power outage is scheduled to hit a western North Carolina town this weekend.

Duke Energy has scheduled the outage for 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, and will cut off power to the town of Granite Falls.

A town spokesperson said the outage is happening to allow Duke to make necessary repairs.

The outage will only affect customers on the town of Granite Falls’ electric distribution system, which is supplied power from Duke. Residents who get their power directly from Duke will not be impacted.
