Asheboro, N.C. — The North Carolina Zoo is getting ready to interrupt floor on a wholly new continent – the primary new continent in almost 30 years!
For a few years, the zoo has featured the continents of North America and Africa. Subsequent week, they may formally break floor on the 10-acre Asia continent.
Anticipated to open in 2026, the brand new Asia continent will function model new animals – together with tigers and Komodo dragons.
In November, the NC legislature authorised $75 million over the subsequent two years to start development.
The zoo will break floor on the brand new continent on August 17, with audio system like North Carolina First Woman Kristin Cooper, Secretary Reid Wilson, N.C. Division of Pure and Cultural Sources, Secretary Pamela Cashwell, N.C. Division of Administration, N.C. Senator Dave Craven, N.C. Consultant Allen McNeill and Zoo officers.
