Fybe, a subsidiary of North Carolina-based Roanoke Cooperative, has confirmed it is expanding fiber internet services to thousands of locations in Elizabeth City.

Fiber-to-the-home technology is coming to Elizabeth City, North Carolina.

Fybe, an ISP that has recently announced numerous service expansions in North Carolina, announced the project to bring fiber internet to the city Feb. 7 and reported that over 14,000 locations will be connected by the effort.

Montre Freeman, the city manager for the community, called it an exciting time for the city and thanked Fybe for investing in the community.

In November of last year, Fybe announced that thousands of homes and businesses in the Inner Banks community of Edenton, are now beneficiaries of a completed network expansion by the company. That project, which connected over 4,300 locations, followed up a completed network expansion to over 400 homes and businesses in Halifax, the seat of North Carolina’s Halifax County.

Bo Coughlin, the COO of Fybe, said the company is committed to bringing the company’s high-speed internet to more parts of the state. Fybe’s offerings include voice services, smart grid energy efficiency capabilities, and internet speeds of up to 1 Gbps, according to a summary provided by the company.
