Student airlifted after shooting at community college in Mississippi; school on lockdown

MOORHEAD, Miss. (WLBT) – One male student was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center after he was shot on the campus of Mississippi Delta Community College.

Campus police were alerted about the incident around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday regarding a shooting that happened on the Moorhead campus at the Edwards-Stonestreet Men’s Residence Hall.

Once police arrived at the scene, the unidentified victim was then airlifted to UMMC. He is in stable condition.

MDCC says a suspect was arrested by law enforcement. Their identity was not released.

The investigation is ongoing and could lead to additional arrests.

The Mississippi Delta Community College Moorhead campus is on lockdown until the end of the semester, with checkpoints placed at all entrances.
