Primary elections begin in Mississippi

MISSISSIPPI — Main elections start in the present day for Mississippi’s 4 US Home seats.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

If runoff elections are wanted, these will probably be held June 28, in keeping with the Related Press.

For US Home District 1, Democratic candidates are Hunter Avery and Dianne Black.

Republican candidates are Trent Kelly (incumbent) and Mark Strauss.

Based on the AP, Kelly gained a 2015 particular election in north Mississippi’s 1st Congressional District after serving as district legal professional for a number of counties in north Mississippi. He’s endorsed by former President Donald Trump.

For US Home District 2, Democratic candidates are Jerry Kerner and Bennie Thompson (incumbent).

Thompson, who has been in workplace since 1993, is chairman of the Home Homeland Safety Committee and co-chairman of a committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021 assault on the U.S. Capitol.

Republican candidates are Michael Carson, Ronald Eller and, Stanford Johnson and Brian Flowers.
