On the Road with Doogs and Friends at the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – As a part of our “On the Street with Doogs and Buddies” summer time collection, Meteorologist Brian Doogs traveled all the best way to Dubuque, Iowa to take a look at the Nationwide Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium.

After crossing the Mississippi River, Doogs bought to take a look at a big, most important attraction on the museum: a paddle wheel.

Nationwide Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium President and CEO Kurt Strand mentioned you may see the paddle wheel from the encircling highways, the river and even from Wisconsin.

Strand mentioned the Nationwide Museum’s paddle wheel dates again to the Nineteen Thirties.

“It was so massive they needed to take the paddle wheel off the boat to get it into the Port of Dubuque, so we determined that we’ll put it proper out in entrance of our constructing,” Strand mentioned.

The paddle wheel weighs about 32 tons, and it runs day by day from 9 a.m. to five p.m., besides throughout snowy days through the winter.

The paddle wheel is only one attraction on the 14-acre campus of the Nationwide Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium. The museum focuses on STEM schooling, conservation and historical past, based on Strand.
