MSU’s Orators Lecture Series to feature Mississippi Urban League leader

STARKVILLE, Miss.—Portia Ballard Espy, the chief govt officer of the Mississippi City League, is the featured speaker in Feb. 15’s Orators Lecture Sequence, a collaboration between Mississippi State College’s Judy and Bobby Shackouls Honors Faculty and Faculty of Arts and Sciences’ Institute for the Humanities.

Espy’s 4 p.m. lecture is titled “Exploring Our Future: Are You My Household?” and shall be held in Griffis Corridor’s Discussion board Room 401. The occasion, which is free and open to the general public, is the third lecture of the 2022-23 collection and continues its theme of “Household Secrets and techniques and Societal Roles: Discovering Which means in Human Connectivity.” It additionally serves as a part of MSU’s Black Historical past Month celebration.

The Mississippi City League works to empower African People and different underserved communities in Mississippi by financial self-reliance, energy and civil rights. It seeks to perform its mission by applications specializing in well being, justice, jobs, schooling and housing.
