MSU’s Office of Public Affairs announces promotions, new staff members

STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi State College’s Workplace of Public Affairs is saying the promotion of two senior employees members and the addition of three different communications professionals to fill employees vacancies.

MSU Chief Communications Officer and OPA Director Sid Salter stated that Harriet V. Laird, the longtime OPA affiliate director, will function the division’s new senior affiliate director whereas MSU’s College Tv Middle Director David Garraway joins the division’s management as OPA’s affiliate director for broadcast and digital media.

“Harriet is a revered administrator on our campus who possesses a wealth of institutional data and has the belief of the campus neighborhood,” stated Salter. “David has led the College Tv Middle to the subsequent degree throughout his tenure and has a lot to supply OPA’s general mission on this expanded function.”

Within the senior affiliate function, Laird works with Salter to steer and coordinate initiatives throughout the numerous OPA items. The Decatur native has a Bachelor of Science diploma in journalism and Grasp of Science diploma in public relations from the College of Southern Mississippi.

As OPA affiliate director for broadcast and digital media, Garraway will supervise the day-to-day operations of the College Tv Middle, together with MSU’s campus radio station WMSV-FM working with station supervisor Anthony Craven. Along with serving as a technical and artistic useful resource for the workplace, Garraway works with the college’s tv and radio employees to provide high-quality, significant programming designed to coach and inform. He gives management utilizing inventive communications that spotlight MSU’s accomplishments, contributions, and significance to a world viewers. He has led UTC since 2014.

Garraway obtained his Bachelor of Arts diploma in radio, tv, and movie manufacturing and a Grasp of Science diploma in mass communication from the College of Southern Mississippi. Salter additionally introduced the affiliation of veteran greater training communicator Chris Bryant and graphic designers Sarah Gilliland and Haley Rountree with the division.

Bryant joined MSU as a technical author for Raspet in 2020. A product of the Mississippi neighborhood faculty system, Bryant attended Itawamba Group School earlier than transferring to UA-Birmingham the place he accomplished a Bachelor of Arts in communications.

OPA’s award-winning employees gives management for strategic and disaster communications; advertising and marketing and branding; information and media relations; university-wide publications together with MSU’s Alumnus journal; and digital and social media content material improvement together with the college’s web site.
