STARKVILLE, Miss.—Becky Hagenston, a professor in Mississippi State’s Division of English, is receiving a literary artist fellowship for fiction from the Mississippi Arts Fee.

Established in 1968 by the Mississippi Legislature because the state’s official grantmaking and repair company for the humanities, the MAC gives monetary and technical help to artists, arts organizations and academic establishments.

Hagenston is the recipient of two O. Henry Awards for brief fiction, a 2020 Pushcart Prize for her story “Hello Ho Cherry-O,” the Nice Lakes Faculties Affiliation New Writers Award, the Reynolds Worth Quick Fiction Award, and Converse Faculty’s Julia Peterkin Award.
