Mississippi Veterans Affairs Board appoints new director – The Dispatch

JACKSON — The Mississippi Veterans Affairs Board introduced Thursday that it has appointed Mark Smith as new govt director.

Smith had served because the company’s interim govt director since Could, when he changed Stacey Pickering.

Pickering, a former state auditor and Republican state senator from Jones County, led the company from 2018 till his abrupt resignation in Could.

The MSVA initially employed Smith to function deputy director in April 2022.

“I’m honored to serve Mississippi’s 186,000 Veterans via our mission packages,” Smith mentioned. “With an amazing group already in place, we’ll proceed to supply superior service, care and help to America’s heroes.”

Smith served in the USA Military and Mississippi Nationwide Guard from 1976 to 2006, retiring with the rank of colonel. He has 16 years of state authorities expertise, working at businesses together with the Mississippi Division of Baby Protecting Providers, Mississippi Division of Archives and Historical past, and Mississippi Division of Human Providers.
