Mississippi River rescue: 6 adults, 3 children stranded on ice

9 folks, together with three youngsters, have been rescued from a sheet of ice on Lake Pepin on the Mississippi River on Sunday.

The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Workplace stated it obtained a name at 6:36 p.m. Sunday that there have been 9 folks stranded on a sheet of ice in the course of Lake Pepin. 

They’d gone out on the ice from the touchdown at Maiden Rock, Wisconsin, and have been ice fishing when the ice separated. 

The sheriff’s workplace, the Minnesota DNR, and Lake Metropolis Fireplace and Ambulance responded to the scene. They used air boats to move the three youngsters and 6 adults to shore.

No accidents have been reported. 

In the meantime, deputies are engaged on Monday to get a snowmobile, ATV and fishing gear off the sheet of ice. 

The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Workplace is utilizing this incident as a reminder to the general public that ice circumstances are “extraordinarily harmful” because of the mixture of a heat winter and up to date precipitation.
