Mississippi Power sponsors professional development training for students

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Mississippi Energy helps college students from a number of the state’s Traditionally Black Schools and Universities recharge with skilled growth.

Ten college students from Tougaloo Faculty, Alcorn State, and Mississippi Valley State helped to launch the primary UPLIFT management program. The objective of the retreat is to help efforts to maintain Mississippi’s finest and brightest college students within the state after they graduate by serving to them transition from faculty to profession.

The scholars have been chosen to characterize their campuses for the two-day retreat that targeted on staff constructing, constructing efficient interpersonal expertise, discovering strengths, and studying management types.

It was held right now on the Eagle Ridge Convention Heart in Raymond.

Saucier mentioned, “Our objective is to equip these leaders with some instruments to work higher, to grasp themselves higher, to work higher with others, and to be higher ready for his or her careers.”

“Simply studying extra about myself. I realized about the kind of particular person I’m. I realized about my strengths and my weaknesses and the way I can repair my weaknesses and, , not simply be so defeated. Okay, I’m not that good at this, however I can use my strengths to assist with my weaknesses, and I’m simply studying increasingly about myself with that,” Norwood mentioned.

UPLIFT contributors are juniors or seniors. They are going to take part in month-to-month periods and meet with an assigned mentor.
