Mississippi College’s new initiative offers free food and hygiene products to students and employees

CLINTON, Miss. (WLBT) – A brand new initiative at Mississippi School is offering important must college students and workers on campus.

MC’s Meals Pantry opened its doorways on April 1 and has been providing free meals and hygiene merchandise within the basement of the B.C. Rogers Pupil Heart.

The college says that in the course of the first few weeks, greater than 55 college students have shopped there.

“The Meals Pantry is an important piece of the Christian college’s service mission,” the college stated in a press launch. “It’s a case of MC college students serving to different classmates in want.”

“We’ve got obtained wonderful help from college students, particularly members of Golf equipment & Tribes, via donations and volunteers within the Pantry,” stated administrator Becca Benson.

Group organizations just like the Mississippi Gleaning Community, a nonprofit searching for to finish starvation, have stepped in to help the Meals Pantry mission.

Langston Moore and Leigh Ann Blalock, leaders with the Mississippi Gleaning Community, say they’re thrilled to see the expansion of MC’s Meals Pantry.

“I’m overly pleased with my alma mater for taking the mandatory steps to make this service obtainable for college students and workers of the college,” Moore stated. “Feeding the hungry was considered one of Jesus’ key ideas and continues to be with Christians as we speak.”

MC’s Meals Pantry hours are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the course of the fall and spring semesters. The ability additionally gives grab-n-go baggage previous to semester breaks.
