International students take part in USM’s ‘Home Baked for the Holidays’ program

PINE BELT, Miss. (WDAM) – Some 20 college students from everywhere in the world had been handled to truffles and different desserts as a part of the College of Southern Mississippi’s “Residence Baked for the Holidays” program.

The college has seen a rise in its worldwide enrollment and needed to share the vacation spirit with these not in a position to rejoice with their very own households.

Maegan Williams is from Kingston, Jamaica, and she or he hasn’t been dwelling since she enrolled pre-pandeminc.

“So, I got here right here in Spring of 2020, after which Covid hit shortly after that,” Williams stated. “So, that kind of modified my plans, when it comes to journey, after which it kind of became, ’It makes extra sense to remain right here.’

“I can work. It’s dearer having to journey backwards and forwards. And so, I simply ended up staying right here.”

The college’s Wesley Pantry continues to be open for the scholars and is at the moment taking donations.
