I-55 Mississippi River Bridge closing for two weeks due to construction

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) contract crews will close the Interstate 55 Mississippi River Bridge for two weeks to resume construction on the I-55 and Crump interchange.

The closures will take place from 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 9, through 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 23, at the following locations:

  • I-55 southbound will be closed at Bridgeport Road in Arkansas
  • I-55 northbound will be closed at South Parkway in Tennessee

Local Memphis traffic will be allowed to continue to the McLemore exit.

  • I-55 southbound ramp will be closed
  • Crump Boulevard westbound will be closed

Crews will perform hydro demolition on the bridge deck during the two-week closure and install a new polymer concrete overlay.

Drivers are asked to use caution when traveling in the area.
