Deaths from West Nile continue to rise in Mississippi
JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Deaths from those who have been infected with the West Nile virus continues to climb in Mississippi.
According to the latest reports from the Mississippi State Department of Health, six people have now died from the virus this year.
This is a jump from the two that were reported at the beginning of September.
There have been 51 reported cases this year.
According to the CDC, the West Nile virus is most commonly spread through the bite of an infected mosquito with the symptoms including fever, headache, body aches, vomiting, diarrhea, or rash.
