Body found in Mississippi River near USS Kidd, identity unknown, Baton Rouge police say
The body of a person was found partially submerged in the Mississippi River near the USS Kidd on Monday night, and Baton Rouge police have opened a death investigation, a police spokesperson said.
People walking on the levee at about 7:45 p.m. Monday saw the body and alerted police, Sgt. L’Jean McKneely Jr. said.
The identity, age and gender of the person are presently unknown, McKneely said. The coroner’s office will be performing an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
